Calculator Limitations and Disclaimer

A clear statement of what these calculators are for and where they stop.

These tools estimate roof geometry and material quantities for planning. They are intentionally limited, and knowing those limits keeps you safe and your budget realistic.

Planning geometry, not design

The rafter results are theoretical line lengths and angles to the horizontal. They are not cutting dimensions and do not include plumb, seat, cheek or backing cuts, ridge-thickness deductions, member sizing or load capacity. Structural design must be done by a qualified professional for your specific building and local code.

Material estimates are approximate

Area is geometry; the order quantity depends on waste and on the coverage of the exact product you buy. Default waste and coverage are editable planning examples. Confirm coverage on the package and adjust waste for your roof before ordering.

Model assumptions

The hip and pyramid models assume a regular plan with equal pitch and equal overhang. Unequal pitches, L-shaped plans and intersecting roofs are not modeled automatically; measure their real faces instead. Always verify results against your actual roof.
